The New Year brings with it a whole host of new and exciting opportunities and adventures to be seized. Planning a well earnt family break is on the agenda for many of us and half term is nearly upon us. Taking the children skiing can be challenging, especially if it is their first time however these few tips could make your holiday a happier and simpler one. A bit of planning and research will do wonders for everyone’s enjoyment.

  • Book your children into a club. A club can take your children to and from ski school and provide them with lunch and refreshments too therefore giving you a couple of extra hours on the slopes.
  • Going on holiday with another family can also take the pressure off, having their little friends around will provide permanent entertainment at the end of a hard days skiing.
  • Check all the facilities and make sure there is something there for everybody, facilities and ability should be researched.
  • Get your children excited about the holiday by taking them to an indoor snow centre before hand. A few lessons will make all the difference to their confidence, whatever their age, when they actually hitthe slopes.
  • Make your holiday sound like an adventure by omitting the word ‘school’ from your vocabulary. They will respond differently and won’t think it’s all about lessons. Describe how adrenalin makes you feel, talk about the sun and the chill of the air, the food and the scenery. All of these things will make them excited for the ensuing escapade on the slopes.
