Whenever you go somewhere that you haven’t been before one of the first things you have to find out is how to act properly when you are there. What are you supposed to do and what is really not appropriate? This also goes for your very first skiing trip. After you have arrived safely at Ski Blanc, have unpacked your stuff and had something nice to eat or drink you feel ready for a week full of skiing and fun. Which basic rules of ski-etiquette should you remember during your first week on the slopes?

One of the first things to remember is that the skier in front of you always has the right of way. Make sure that you keep enough distance, control your own speed and be aware that this person could make unexpected movements just like you, so you might have to avoid a collision.

Second you should only use the runs that are appropriate for your skill level. Don´t overestimate your skills and let somebody talk you into trying out a black run after a few days of skiing. You don´t want to put yourself and others in danger. Just dream about the day you´ll be able to choose a black run as well.

Further you should not stop in the middle of the slope unless this is the place where you have just fallen down. Always try to halt at the side of the piste where other people can see you clearly. Even if you feel like the middle of the slope is the perfect spot to make the most beautiful pictures, please think of the other skiers too.

If you see that somebody else has fallen down and has spread his gear around, don´t just laugh and ski past him, but see if this person is doing well and try to help him. This might also happen to you one day and at that moment you will be glad that somebody else is there to help you get up and gather your stuff.

While waiting in a queue, try to avoid standing on the skis or snowboards of other people. Of course this might sometimes be difficult if it´s very crowded, but try not to make scratches on the gear of other people, this can save you some dirty looks from the person standing in front of you.

These are just some simple rules you should try to recall when you are out there on the slopes. The only other thing we want you to remember is to enjoy your stay at Ski Blanc and to be sure that you have an amazing time on the slopes and in the beautiful town of Meribel.
