After a lot of doubts, you have finally decided that you will join the rest of your family or a group of friends on a ski trip next winter. Your holiday at Ski Blanc is booked and now you just have to wait a few months until it’s finally winter and you can experience whether all the nice stories that everybody has been telling you are true. That it’s really easy to ski down the slopes and that it’s really not that cold all day as you think it will be. While eagerly waiting for the winter season to start there are a few things you can already do while you are still at home.

First of all you should not run to the nearest sports shop and start buying all the newest and fanciest ski wear that the shop assistants will advise you to buy, because you surely can’t do without it on your first ski trip. Instead you should better first borrow some stuff like a ski helmet, goggles or gloves from family or friends. If you have been on the slopes for a few days and decide that you really like skiing and would like to do it more often, you can always decide to buy your own stuff.

Second it might be wise to visit an indoor snow centre near your home and to follow a few skiing lessons there to get used to being on snow. This way you can already get used to ski’s and ski boots and learn to make some first turns. It also helps you to get in shape for your ski trip, because skiing all day will require some energy and will let you use some muscles you might normally not use and can thus be very exhausting if you are not prepared for it.

Last but not least you should watch some videos of skiers enjoying themselves in the snow. Try to avoid the ones of ski crashes and other things that can go wrong. Instead you should look for the videos of clear blue skies where people are easily skiing down the slopes and having fun with other people. This way you will get in the right mood for your ski trip and it makes you feel confident that you can do this as well, or at least something like that, during your holiday in Meribel.
